The Cable Television Division works to promote and facilitate access to affordable, broadband-level telecommunications service across the State so that all residents may benefit from the many online applications, programs, and resources available, including telework, e-learning programs, and online job, health, and government services.

FCC National Broadband Map

The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) National Broadband Map allows consumers to search by address to find information about broadband availability, available internet providers, and maximum service speeds. The map is also used to allocate federal broadband program funds. It is continually updated and may be challenged through a link on the map.

Hi-WiFi Hotspots Offering Free Service on Hawaii Island

Hi-WiFi is a continuing project of DCCA in partnership with the counties to evaluate the feasibility and cost of providing residents with unlimited, free internet access at government locations across the counties. The pilot project was accomplished with the assistance of the County of Hawaii, and 7 hotspots on Hawaii Island are now operational and available free to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

State Designated WiFi Hotspots Offering 1 Hour of Free Service

DCCA has designated the location of 100 Spectrum WiFi hotspots at public parks, civic and other community centers, and other public open areas and gathering places as part of its approval of the transfer of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable franchises in the State from Time Warner Cable to Charter Communications. These designated locations offer 1 hour of free WiFi service per device per day.

Hawaii Internet Speed Map Tool

This is a DCCA created tool to help identify areas with slower internet speeds by allowing residents to report their home’s wired (cable, DSL, fiber) internet speed to create a crowd-sourced map.

No Internet Service Map Tool

This is a DCCA created tool for residents to report locations with no available wireline internet service to assist efforts to address unserved areas of the State.

	Latest Speed Data for Hawaii Fixed and Mobile Broadband Access maps and charts for Hawaii showing Ookla® fixed and mobile Speedtest® data made available through the Ookla for Good™ program.
	Hawaii Broadband & Digital Equity Office (HBDEO) – The Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism – HBDEO’s mission is to support and coordinate statewide deployment of broadband and programs to achieve the goals of digital equity and adoption for all residents of Hawaii. 	University of Hawaiʻi Broadband for Hawaiʻi website. – The University of Hawaiʻi is the lead coordinator of the State’s broadband efforts, working with HBDEO, to plan for and expend the more than $400 million in Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program federal funds allocated to Hawaiʻi to ensure that all of Hawaii’s citizens have access to robust, reliable and equitably priced Internet service. 	Report on Wireline Broadband Speeds in Hawaii (July 2019) – In July 2019, DCCA issued this Report of Fixed Wireline Broadband Speeds in Hawaii. This report is based upon DCCA’s analysis of fixed wireline performance data obtained from Ookla, proprietor of Speedtest.net, which collects speed test data from over a million consumer-initiated speed tests taken in Hawaii annually. This report, which reflects one method of evaluating existing Internet service offerings in the State, is offered as a supplement to the Federal Communications Commission’s issued deployment data.
