We want to keep you informed about the current situation with Young Brothers’ recent shipping schedule. On December 18, 2023, the Young Brothers’ barge, Kala‘enalu, arrived in Hilo as planned. However, unexpected ocean conditions, particularly a significant northeastern swell causing surge at the pier, have necessitated the barge to remain waiting off port until conditions improve.

Young Brothers is actively monitoring the weather and ocean conditions, aiming to make another attempt to enter the harbor later in the day when conditions are forecasted to ameliorate. Unfortunately, ongoing unfavorable weather forecasts for the week may result in further delays for sailings scheduled to the Neighbor Islands.
