7:30 p.m. Update: Public Safety Power Shutoff watch condition continues overnight as wildfire risk monitored
Low humidity and heavy wind gusts seen for Maui and Hawaiʻi Island

HONOLULU, July 7, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric is continuing to monitor weather conditions across Maui and Hawaiʻi Island overnight and into Tuesday. At this time, the Public Safety Power Shutoff program is still active but in a “watch” condition, meaning that if weather conditions intensify, Hawaiian Electric may proactively shut off power in communities with high exposure to wildfire risk. Customers in these PSPS areas are urged to review their own emergency plans and prepare for the possibility of extended power outages.

Any current outages that may be caused by current weather conditions are not related to the company’s PSPS program.
