Attention Maui Residents! Notice of Informational Meeting – the Maui Island Grid

The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is holding an informational meeting on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 at 5:00 PM. This meeting is a chance to learn more about the Hawaiian Electric’s current operations and future plans for Maui’s electric grid.

What you can expect:

  • Presentation by Hawaiian Electric: They will discuss current challenges, future generation plans, and planned grid improvements.
  • Public Comment: You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns about the current operations and future of Maui’s electricity grid.

How to Participate:

  • Attend in person: The meeting will be held at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Ike Lea 144 Room (310 Kaahumanu Ave, Kahului, HI 96732). See attached map for parking information.
  • Attend virtually: Pre-register by July 1st at link to register.
  • Watch live: You can watch the live broadcast on the PUC’s YouTube page: link to PUC YouTube.

How to Submit Comments:

  • Written comments: Submit online at HERE or by mail to Hawaii Public Utilities Commission, 465 South King St., #103, Honolulu, Hawaiʻi 96813. Be sure to reference “Maui Island Grid Meeting” and Docket No. 2021-0024.
  • Oral comments: You can provide oral comments during the meeting in person or virtually (pre-registration required).
