Hawaiian Electric Installs Weather Stations Amidst Wildfire Concerns

Hawaiian Electric has initiated the installation of 52 weather stations across the state in an effort to enhance wildfire preparedness. These stations, positioned in high-risk areas, will collect data on wind, temperature, and humidity. The gathered information will be used to inform decisions regarding the implementation of public safety power shutoffs (PSPS), a measure designed to prevent wildfires during extreme weather conditions.

This project is part of a broader initiative by Hawaiian Electric to address wildfire risks and includes other measures such as the deployment of AI-enhanced cameras and the implementation of fast-trip settings. Read full article here.
