The Division of Consumer Advocacy is to inform you of a recent announcement by Hawaiʻi Gas regarding their selection of partners for renewable energy projects. The company is aiming to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and support the state’s clean energy goals.

• Project Details:
  • Hawaiʻi Gas has chosen Eurus Energy America and Bana Pacific as partners for renewable hydrogen and renewable natural gas (RNG) projects, respectively.
  • Eurus Energy America will use solar power and recycled water to produce green hydrogen, potentially increasing the hydrogen content in Hawaiʻi Gas’s fuel mix to 20%.
  • Bana Pacific, a Hawaiʻi-based company, will construct a facility that utilizes bana grass to create RNG.

  • These projects are subject to approval by the Public Utilities Commission.
