Consumer Advocacy – Public Utilities (DCA)

The State of Hawaiʻi Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced two public hearings regarding the Application of Hone Heke Corporation, dba Expeditions. Hone Heke is seeking Commission approval for rate increases and a revised rate schedule related to water carrier transportation service between Lāhainā Harbor, Maui, and Manele Harbor, Lānaʻi. The proposed changes include fare increases and modifications to the rate schedule. The Commission will assess whether these proposals are fair and reasonable. The public hearings will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Lāhainā Intermediate School Cafeteria, and on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. in the Lānaʻi High & Elementary School Cafeteria. All interested parties are encouraged to attend the hearings and express their views on the application. Written comments may also be submitted online or by mail before September 4, 2023.
