Kalaeloa Partners LP Virtual Community Engagement Meeting

Posted on Nov 7, 2023 in Important Events, Public Meeting

Aloha,

We would like to invite you to an upcoming virtual community engagement meeting hosted by Kalaeloa Partners LP (KPLP) in a webinar format. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2023, and is open to members of the public, the surrounding communities, and stakeholders.

Purpose of the Meeting: The primary objective of this meeting is to provide you with valuable updates on KPLP’s power generation facility located in the James Campbell Industrial Park (JCIP). During this informational session, KPLP will share insights into various aspects, including plant operations, the essential role it plays in delivering electricity to both residential and commercial consumers on Oʻahu, its corporate and social responsibility endeavors, and information concerning the renewal of its amended and restated power purchase agreement (ARPPA) with the Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO).

About the ARPPA: The ARPPA, submitted to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) on November 24, 2021, and approved on November 23, 2022, extends the agreement for an additional 10 years. It is designed to reduce energy costs and firm capacity provided to HECO, commits to upgrades for the power plant to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs, and includes an option to explore and transition to biofuels.

KPLP’s Contribution: KPLP is a significant provider of electricity, meeting approximately 20% of Oʻahu’s energy needs since it began operating in 1991. As one of the early members of the James Campbell Industrial Park, it has been a long-term supporter of various community, educational, health, civic, and neighborhood organizations in West Oʻahu.

Opportunity for Engagement: This meeting is part of an ongoing series of community briefings aimed at keeping the public informed about KPLP’s operations and initiatives. It also offers a platform for you to ask questions and provide input.
