Hawaiian Electric’s Power Supply Improvement Plans

Posted on Nov 4, 2015 in Key Dockets

Today the Public Utilities Commission issued an order regarding Hawaiian Electric’s Power Supply Improvement Plans. These plans were Hawaiian Electric’s response to the PUC’s April 2014 directive requiring Hawaiian Electric to create long-term resource plans aligned with Hawaii state energy policy. The plans were meant to increase the use of renewable energy, lower customer bills, and improve reliability. The PUC’s recent order identifies several deficiencies in Hawaiian Electric’s proposed plans, and the order sets forth a timeline and process to address those deficiencies. You can read a copy of the order here.
