Renewal Information

  • All licenses regardless of issuance date, are subject to renewal by September 30, every even-numbered year.
  • Licenses not renewed by license expiration date are unlicensed and may not practice.
Additional Renewal Requirements
TAX CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
for Active Contractor Entity and Sole Proprietors

  • Must have current and valid tax clearance with DOTAX
  • Tax clearance must be within 6 months of renewing license
  • Tax clearance DOTAX name must match the contractor’s PVL license name

If DOTAX Name Does Not Match PVL Licensee Name

If you want to update your tax clearance name with the Hawaii Department of Taxation:

1. Sign into Hawaii Tax Online at: https://hitax.hawaii.gov/

2. Select More… tab, Registration tile, select Manage Names & DBAs.

3. Navigate to the tax account, select the Name you would like to update.

4. Complete the request and select Submit.”

Please contact the Department of Taxation at 808-587-4242 between the hours of 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM (Hawaii Standard Time), Monday to Friday, except state holidays to obtain a valid tax clearance that matches your PVL license name exactly.

Restoration Information (Restore within 60 days after license expiration)

Forfeited licenses may be restored within 60 days and subject to meeting restoration requirements. Failure to restore a forfeited license within 60 days after the license expiration date will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.
