In 2010, the State of Hawaii’s Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) was awarded a Federal grant to assist the State in gathering and verifying data on the availability, speed, location, and technology type of broadband services. This grant ended on January 31, 2015.
In collaboration with the FCC and SamKnows, the State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Cable Television Division (DCCA) launched the Measuring Broadband Hawaii (MBH) to expand Hawaii’s team of volunteers measuring Internet performance across the State, with special emphasis on recruiting residents in underserved areas. The goal of the program is to better inform Hawaii consumers about their Internet service performance and to collect broadband performance data that DCCA can use in its efforts to improve access to broadband service across the State. Volunteers will receive access to a personal reporting suite that allows them to monitor their broadband service performance. You can learn more about this program by visiting this web page:
