Sign Up for the Do Not Call Registry to Reduce Telemarketing Calls
You can cut down on unwanted telemarketing calls by registering your home or cellular phone number on the nationwide Do Not Call Registry. This registry will not eliminate all telemarketing calls, but it will reduce the number of unwanted calls you receive.
To register over the Internet:
-
Go to the National Do Not Call Registry and follow the instructions.
-
You will be asked to provide:
-
The telephone number(s) that you would like to register (you are allowed to register up to three separate numbers) and
- A valid e-mail address that the Federal Trade Commission can use for confirmation.
-
- After you provide the information requested, you can exit the Do Not call Web site.
- You will receive an e-mail confirming your request to have your phone number(s) put on the Do No Call Registry. You MUST reply to the e-mail within 72 hours of logging onto the Do Not Call Web site to have your number(s) added to the registry.
To register over the Phone:
- Call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236) and follow the instruction. You must call from the phone number you want to put on the Do Not Call Registry. You can only register the number you are calling from.
- You will be asked to enter your phone number. The computer will check for a match between the number you entered and the number from which you are calling.
- If the number matches, you will hear a message informing you that you are registered.
