Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker

Effective November 15, 2020, you must apply electronic and pay fees with a credit card athttps://nipr.com/.  Paper applications for this initial license will not be accepted, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2020-13LIC for more information.

Effective January 1, 2022, penalty fee, reinstatement term, CE term and certain licensing requirements will be changed and implemented, please refer to  Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021 – 9LIC for more information.

Effective March 21, 2022, paper applications for certain licenses will not be accepted for reactivation, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2022-4LIC.

Surplus Lines FAQ – Effective July 1, 2012

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Individual (Initial License)

For initial or if you held a HI Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactive for more than one year.

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Individual (License Reactivation)

If you held a HI Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactivated within one year.

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Business Entity (Initial License)

For initial or if you held a HI Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactive for more than one year.

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Business Entity (License Reactivation)

If you held a HI Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactivated within one year.

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Individual or Business Entity (License Reinstatement)

If you held a HI Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker license that has been inactive for not more than thirty days, due to nonrenewal.

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Business Entity (Initial License)

A list of individuals within the business entity who are licensed Surplus Lines Brokers should be submitted via NIPR’s attachment warehouse.  Only licensed individual Surplus Lines Brokers within your licensed business entity may transact surplus lines business.  You must provide the Licensing Branch with the names and license numbers of the individual Surplus Lines Brokers who are added or removed from your business.

To reactivate your license, you must submit online via NIPR at https://nipr.com/

To apply electronically:

  1. Go to https://nipr.com/ to reactivate the license.
  2. Submit a list of individuals within the business entity who are licensed Surplus Lines Brokers through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.  Only licensed individual Surplus Lines Brokers within your licensed business entity may transact surplus lines business.  You must provide the Licensing Branch with the names and license numbers of the individual Surplus Lines Brokers who are added or removed from your business through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.

 

Nonresident Surplus Lines Broker – Individual or Business Entity (License Reinstatement)

  1. Go to https://www.ehawaii.gov/dcca/hils/renew/exe/insrenew.cgi to pay outstanding fees and update addresses, phone numbers and e-mail.
