Nonresident Adjuster
Effective May 18, 2021, the Insurance Division has approved Pearson Vue to administer testing through their online proctoring process, in addition to the standard test center process, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021- 3LIC for more information.
Effective June 1, 2021, paper applications for more licenses will not be accepted please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021- 6LIC for more information.
Effective January 1, 2022, penalty fee, reinstatement term, CE term and certain licensing requirements will be changed and implemented, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021 – 9LIC for more information.
Effective March 21, 2022, paper applications for certain licenses will not be accepted for reactivation, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2022-4LIC.
For initial or if you held a HI adjuster license that was inactive for more than one year, refer to “Resident Adjuster – Individual (Initial License)”.
If you held a HI adjuster license that was inactivated within one year, refer to “Resident Adjuster – Individual (License Reactivation)”.
Reinstatement – If you held a HI independent or public adjuster license that has been inactive for not more than thirty days, due to nonrenewal.
Nonresident Adjuster – Individual (License Renewal or Reinstatement) Crop Adjuster
Reinstatement – If you held a HI crop adjuster license that has been inactive for not more than thirty days, due to nonrenewal.
Nonresident Adjuster – Individual (License Renewal or Reinstatement) Work Comp Adjuster
Reinstatement – If you held a HI work comp adjuster license that has been inactive for not more than thirty days, due to nonrenewal.

Before submitting your application:
Successfully pass the Hawaii Insurance License Exam. [1] Adjuster exam for independent or public adjuster, workers compensation adjuster exam for work comp adjuster. Beginning May 18, 2021, all Hawaii Insurance exams will be available for administration through Pearson’s online proctoring process in addition to the standard test center process.
There is no reciprocity for adjusters. All individuals – residents and nonresidents – are required to successfully pass the Hawaii Insurance License Exam.

To Apply electronically:
- Go to https://nipr.com/ to apply for the license.
- For public adjuster: Submit copy of the filed surety bond in the amount of $10,000 through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.
- For crop adjuster: Submit a copy of a valid, unexpired, Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (“CAPP”) card through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.

Before submitting your application:
For work comp adjuster: You are required to successfully pass the Hawaii Insurance License Exam. Contact the Hawaii Insurance Division at 808-586-2788.
To reactivate your license, you must submit online via NIPR at https://nipr.com/
To apply electronically:
- Go to https://nipr.com/ to reactivate the license.
- For public adjuster: Submit copy of the filed surety bond in the amount of $10,000 through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.
- For crop adjuster: Submit a copy of a valid, unexpired, Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (“CAPP”) card through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.
Nonresident Adjuster – Individual (License Renewal or Reinstatement) Independent Adjuster – Public Adjuster
- Go to https://www.ehawaii.gov/dcca/hils/renew/exe/insrenew.cgi or to https://nipr.com/ to renew or reinstate your licenses. DO NOT renew or reinstate an Independent Adjuster License and Public Adjuster license through both websites, just one or the other.
Nonresident Adjuster – Individual (License Renewal or Reinstatement) Crop Adjuster
You must apply electronic at https://nipr.com/.
To renew or reinstate electronically:
- Go to https://nipr.com/ to renew or reinstate your license.
- Submit a copy of a valid, unexpired, Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (“CAPP”) card through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse.
