Recent Mergers and Transfers
The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Cable Television Division (CATV) is responsible for processing applications relating to the transfer of a cable television franchise in the State of Hawaii. CATV is tasked with reviewing, investigating, and analyzing cable television transfer applications to ensure, among other matters, that transfer applicants are financially, legally, operationally, and technically qualified to operate a cable television franchise in the State of Hawaii and that the proposed transfer is in the public interest. Transfer application proceedings are guided by the federal Cable Act and state laws, specifically, Hawaii Revised Statutes § 440G-10.1 and Hawaii Administrative Rules Chapter 16-133.
