Resident Adjuster
Effective May 18, 2021, the Insurance Division has approved Pearson Vue to administer testing through their online proctoring process, in addition to the standard test center process, please refer to standard test center process, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021- 3LIC for more information.
Effective June 1, 2021, paper applications and checks for more licenses will not be accepted please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021- 6LIC for more information.
Effective January 1, 2022, penalty fee, reinstatement term, CE term and certain licensing requirements will be changed and implemented, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2021 – 9LIC for more information.
Effective March 21, 2022, paper applications and checks for certain licenses will not be accepted for reactivation, please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2022-4LIC.
Effective November 15, 2022, new changes and mandatory requirements for individuals and business entities due to the transition to NAIC’s State Based System (SBS), please refer to Commissioner’s Memorandum 2022-10LIC.

Resident Adjuster – Individual (Initial License) Independent Adjuster – Public Adjuster – Work Comp Adjuster – Crop Adjuster
For initial or if you held a HI resident Adjuster license that was inactive for more than one year.
Before submitting your application:
- Successfully pass the Hawaii Insurance License Exam(s). Pass Hawaii Adjuster exam for independent or public adjuster license. Pass Hawaii workers compensation adjuster exam for work comp adjuster license. Exam is not required to apply for crop adjuster license. Contact our exam administrator, Pearson Vue to register for an exam. Call toll free at 1-800-274-2608. View our Candidate Handbook at Pearson Vue’s website. Beginning May 18, 2021, all Hawaii Insurance exams will be available for administration through Pearson’s online proctoring process in addition to the standard test center process.
- To obtain fingerprints, schedule an appointment online at https://www.fieldprinthawaii.com. Fees collected by FieldPrint include state and federal submission fees. Effective September 1, 2018, all applicants must enter “HI-DCCA-INS”, the code that identifies the Insurance Division as the intended recipient of your fingerprint result, when scheduling an online appointment with Fieldprint.

To Apply electronically:
- Go to https://nipr.com/ to apply for the license (Use NIPR’s “Apply for a New License” online application).
- For public adjuster: Submit copy of the filed surety bond in the amount of $10,000 through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse (within 7 days along with the online application).
- For crop adjuster: Submit a copy of a valid, unexpired, Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (“CAPP”) card through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse (within 7 days along with the online application).
IMPORTANT: The Surety Bond and the CAPP card are required to be attached to the NIPR’s attachment Warehouse within 7 days of submitting the application. Your application may be considered “rejected” if Licensing Branch does not receive the document(s) within 7 days from the date the application is submitted. No refund if application is rejected.
Resident Adjuster – Individual (License Renewal & Late Renewal) Independent Adjuster – Public Adjuster – Work Comp Adjuster – Crop Adjuster
LATE RENEWAL: If you held a HI resident Adjuster license that has been inactivated within one year of expiration.
Before submitting your online application:
For work comp adjuster: You are required to retake and successfully pass the Hawaii Insurance License Exam for renewal.
To apply electronically (Use NIPR’s “Renew an Existing License” online application):
- Go to https://nipr.com/ to renew the license or pay renewal late fee for the license.
- For crop adjuster – Submit a copy of a valid, unexpired, Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (“CAPP”) card through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse (within 7 days along with the online application).
IMPORTANT: The CAPP card is required to be attached to the NIPR’s attachment Warehouse within 7 days of submitting the application. Your application may be considered “rejected” if Licensing Branch does not receive the document(s) within 7 days from the date the application is submitted. No refund if application is rejected.
Resident Adjuster – Individual (License Reinstatement) Independent Adjuster – Public Adjuster – Work Comp Adjuster – Crop Adjuster
REINSTATEMENT – If you held a HI resident Adjuster license that has been inactivated for more than one year. You must apply as a new applicant.
You will apply as a new applicant for initial license. Follow the same requirements and instructions in the beginning of the page to apply for the Initial License for the adjuster license via https://nipr.com.
