A complete application with appropriate fees must be received at least 30 days before the board meeting date.
*See “Board Meeting Schedule” link for dates. If your application is approved at a board meeting, you may sit for the next scheduled exam after that meeting.
Examinations
The Private Detective and Guard board examination is offered by PSI Services, LLC. You may register for the exam after the Board approves your application and sends an approval letter. Please allow up to 24 hours after receiving your approval letter to register.

NOTE: Under Hawaii Administrative Rules § 16-97-41.1, applicants who fail two consecutive attempts must wait 90 days from their last examination before retaking it. Therefore, you are encouraged to sit for the earliest available exam.
