Dispensing Optician Program

Due to COVID-19 and for the health and safety of both consumers and staff, walk-in services at the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs offices are available during abbreviated hours between 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Friday, until further notice. Please observe proper safety protocols (e.g., face covering and physical distancing) when visiting.

Staff will remain available during normal hours to meet the needs of the public over the phone and online. LICENSE RENEWAL EXTENSION: The deadline to renew current licenses that expire by June 30, 2020, has been extended to July 31, 2020. Licenses eligible for the extension are listed here.

Licensees that hold an active and current license may continue to perform licensed activities until July 31, 2020, as permitted by current state law and administrative rules, in compliance with existing emergency proclamations and executive orders.

  • All Licenses regardless of issuance date, are subject to renewal by July 1 of every even-numbered year.

Restoration Information...

(DIO) Forfeited licenses may be restored within 1 year and subject to meeting restoration requirements.
Failure to restore a forfeited license within 1 year after the license expiration date will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.
