TRAVEL AGENCIES, ACTIVITY DESKS AND TIME SHARES

Hawaii licenses travel agencies, activity desk providers, and time share sales.

Activity desks act as intermediaries, selling, contracting for, and arranging, tour excursions and activities, like surf lessons, helicopter rides, and whale watching tours. Activity desks are often conveniently located in hotels or shopping malls, and allow consumers an opportunity to conveniently schedule and plan activities in which they may want to participate.

A time share is an interest in vacation property.  Instead of buying the property for yourself, you’re paying a share of the price and buying a slice of time when you can use the property each year. The rest of the year, other people, who have also purchased shares, use the property. The length of time (or interval) of your stay depends on your share.
