LifeSmarts Top 4 Teams to Compete in State Competition
Winner Represents Hawaii at National Finals

HONOLULU — The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Office of the Securities Commissioner announces the top scoring high school teams for the annual LifeSmarts Hawaii Online Competition.

The top four teams are Campbell, Iolani and two Waipahu high school teams. The teams now qualify to compete in person at the LifeSmarts State Finals on Saturday, Feb.7, 2015, at the State Capitol Auditorium.

The in-person LifeSmarts Hawaii State Finals Competition is a game-show buzzer style team event. The public is invited to root for these high school students as they vie for prizes and the chance to represent Hawaii at the National LifeSmarts Competition on April 17-20, 2015 in Seattle.

“We look forward to a lively State Competition between the top four teams this February,” said Hawaii Commissioner of Securities, Tung Chan. “The DCCA is proud to sponsor this great education competition and we hope the public will join us in cheering on the students.”

LifeSmarts is a consumer education competition that tests teens in grades 6-12 about personal finance, health and safety, the environment, technology, and consumer rights and responsibilities. The LifeSmarts Hawaii program is sponsored by the DCCA Office of the Securities Commissioner in partnership with the Hawaii Credit Union League and the National Consumers League.
