HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM COMPARISON
The information provided in the small group premium comparison sheet is made available through Act 066, which was proposed by the Insurance Division. This law creates openness and rate transparency by requiring Hawaii’s health insurers to allow its small group ACA rates to be published.
The Health Insurance Premium sheet will give consumers a better idea of what a 2015 Affordable Care Act (ACA) plan will cost compared to their existing 2014 health plan. Individuals can use this as a guide to estimate premiums if they purchase a 2015 ACA plan.
The SHOP Marketplace (“SHOP”) is the Small Business Health Options Program under the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) designed to facilitate the sale of health insurance to small businesses. Currently, SHOP is open to employers with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees (FTEs), including non-profit organizations. The minimum number of employees rises to 100 on January 1, 2016, to qualify for SHOP. In SHOP Direct enrollment a business owner, working alone or through their agent or broker, can purchase a SHOP qualified health plan directly from a health insurer. You may be eligible for the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit if a business owner purchases a certified SHOP policy listed as a qualified health plan (“QHP”). Please use this 2015 SHOP ACA Qualified Health Plans listing as a premium guide.
