Consumer Advocacy – Public Utilities (DCA)

The Department of the Navy (DON), Command Navy Installations Command, Naval Facilities Engineering Command and Kauaʿi Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) have signed a lease to develop a 19.3-megawatt (MW) solar facility in conjunction with a 70 megawatt hours battery energy storage system to be housed on-base at Pacific Missile Range Facility – Barking Sands (PMRF). The application of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between KIUC and AES Kekaha Solar, LLC is subject to approval by the Public Utilities Commission.
